The video, which has gone viral, shows a massive fire storm churning in the San Bernardino Mountains, generating a massive firenado. The whirlwind is seen moving rapidly across the landscape, with flames reaching 100 feet in the air.
The footage was taken by an aircraft flying over the area, offering a bird’s-eye view of the intense fire and the firenado it created. The video can be seen in the attached video footage.
According to the Orange County Fire Department, the fire, known as the Silverado Fire, has burned over 12,000 acres and is 60% contained. The fire started on October 26 and was fueled by strong winds and dry conditions.
The Silverado Fire is part of a larger complex of fires burning in Southern California, which has affected thousands of residents and led to widespread air quality alerts. The state’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) has reported that the fire season is now the second-largest on record in California, with over 3.9 million acres burned.
