Find out where to stream Space Jam online on Netflix, Hulu, Prime, and more.

Space Jam Remains a Beloved Classic, Now Streaming on Netflix and Other Platforms

Nearly three decades after its initial release, Space Jam, the live-action/animation hybrid starring Michael Jordan, continues to captivate new and nostalgic audiences alike. The 1996 film, in which Jordan plays himself as he’s drawn into the cartoon world by Bugs Bunny to help the Looney Tunes defeat a group of nefarious aliens in a basketball game, is still widely popular.

Despite receiving mixed reviews upon its initial release, Space Jam has become a cult classic, and its nostalgic value remains strong with a certain generation. In 2021, a sequel, Space Jam: A New Legacy, was released, starring LeBron James instead of Michael Jordan. However, the sequel failed to live up to the original’s legacy, and many fans still seek out the 1996 film.

As of February 1, 2025, Space Jam is now available to stream on Netflix, making it easily accessible to a wider audience. For those who don’t want to subscribe to Netflix, the film is also available for rent or purchase on various video-on-demand platforms, ranging from $3.99 to $14.99.

For fans of the original Space Jam, the sequel, Space Jam: A New Legacy, is available to stream on HBO Max. Despite receiving poor reviews, the film follows a similar formula to the original, with LeBron James as the star athlete and a conniving AI system as the villain. However, it’s not possible to stream both films in one place, as they are exclusive to different platforms.
