Law Enforcement Expert Slams DOJ’s Claims of 50-Year Low in Violent Crime

Ad

A former police officer is challenging the Biden administration’s claim that violent crime rates have hit a 50-year low. According to the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program, which was in use until recently, violent crime includes murder, manslaughter, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. However, Ken Alexandrow, a 26-year veteran of the Nashville, Tennessee, police department, argues that the former administration manipulated data to achieve its desired outcome.

Alexandrow claims that the Biden administration changed the reporting conditions, shifting from the UCR program to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). He argues that police departments will often remove “pieces of the pie” to make constituents feel safer and that government agencies have also done the same thing by changing the way crime is reported.

He also notes that in 2023, 70% of police departments stopped reporting under the UCR program, which has resulted in a tremendous drop in crime statistics and percentages. The Biden-Harris DOJ reported a 17.5% decrease in murder rates and a 7.1% decrease in rape, 3.6% decrease in aggravated assault, and 7.8% decline in robbery in 2024.

Additionally, Alexandrow pointed out that in 2022, the FBI quietly updated its crime data to show an increase in violent crimes, which was previously touted as a victory for the administration. The DOJ had reported a 1.7% decrease in violent crime between 2021 and 2022, followed by a 3% decrease between 2022 and 2023, and then a 10.3% decline between 2023 and 2024.

The administration had previously cited crime statistics from 85 cities, but failed to specify which cities reported the data. Fox News has reached out to the DOJ, NYPD, LAPD, and Chicago Police Department for comment.
