A former FBI special agent is warning Americans to exercise caution when attending major national events, following a series of deadly incidents on New Year’s Day. The incidents include a truck plowing into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, killing over a dozen people, and a Tesla Cybertruck exploding in front of the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas.

Nicole Parker, a former FBI special agent and Fox News contributor, stated that while these events are shocking and devastating, they are a reminder that terrorism and mass shootings are a real and present threat. Parker noted that there has been a significant increase in activity leading up to these events, particularly since the Oct. 7, 2023 massacre of a Hamas terror attack on the Jewish State.

Parker emphasized that the public is part of the solution, and it is important to report any suspicious activity or information to law enforcement. She urged people to be aware of their surroundings and to trust their instincts, stating that “don’t forget that the public is part of the solution because a lot of times, when these individuals, whether they’re terrorists or violent offenders or mass shooters, usually there’s something called leakage, where they give some sort of indication that they’re going to do something before they actually do it.”

Parker also warned that these types of events will not stop and that it is important to take measures to mitigate risk. She noted that while she is excited for the upcoming inauguration of President-elect Trump, real progress must be made by elected officials and the FBI to combat these threats.

The FBI and Las Vegas Police Department are still investigating the explosion of the Tesla Cybertruck and have yet to determine the motive and whether it was an act of terrorism. Parker’s warnings come as several large events are scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, including the Super Bowl and the College Football National Championship.
