FBI Releases New Info on New Orleans Terrorist Attack, Reveals Extensive Internet Search History
The FBI has released new details about New Orleans terrorist attacker Shamsud-Din Jabbar, including his extensive internet search history, as the investigation into the New Year’s attack continues. The agency revealed that Jabbar researched Bourbon Street balcony access, Mardi Gras, and shootings that occurred in the city as late as mid-November. He also searched for information on the Christmas market ramming attack in Germany just hours before the attack on Bourbon Street.
In addition, the FBI revealed that Jabbar took a train from Houston, Texas to New Orleans and returned to Texas on a bus on November 10. He also searched for an apartment for rent on Orleans Street, and although he had applied to rent the apartment, he later told the landlord he had changed his mind.
The FBI also shared that Jabbar used Meta smart glasses to take videos of his surroundings as he rode a bike through the French Quarter months before carrying out the attack.
The agency has also updated the number of injured in the attack to 57, up from the original reported number of 35. A total of 136 victims have been identified, including two businesses that suffered damage.
The FBI is urging anyone with information or video of the incident to reach out to www.fbi.gov/bourbonstreetattack or call 1-800-CALL-FBI as the investigation continues.
