The Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) primary system for sending real-time safety alerts to pilots was experiencing a temporary outage on Saturday. As a result, the agency was forced to use a backup system to provide these alerts.

According to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, there is currently no impact to the National Airspace System, thanks to the backup system in place. However, he warned that the outage may cause “residual” flight delays on Sunday morning.

The FAA is working to fully restore its primary system and will provide updates on its status every 30 minutes. Despite the disruption, the agency remains committed to ensuring the safety and efficiency of the National Airspace System.
