Ezekiel Elliott Joins Los Angeles Chargers Practice Squad

Ezekiel Elliott, the 29-year-old two-time rushing champion, has found a new home with the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad. After being granted a release by the Dallas Cowboys a week prior, Elliott has landed with the Chargers in the hopes of contributing to a playoff run.

Elliott joins a team led by coach Jim Harbaugh that is currently dealing with injuries to their leading rushers. J.K. Dobbins is returning from a knee sprain, while Gus Edwards has missed the past two games due to an ankle injury.

While Elliott is not the same back he was in his prime, he can still provide solid pass blocking and goal-line carries. He will also serve as a depth back to spell Dobbins if needed.

However, Elliott will need to hit the ground running quickly as the Chargers are just five days away from their playoff opener against the Houston Texans. He will need to earn a spot on the gameday roster with coach Greg Roman’s offense to have a chance to contribute.
