Ex-spies warn DC casino could compromise national security.

Ex-spies say DC casino would put nation’s secrets at risk

Retired CIA Director George Tenet, along with former NSA chief Gen. Michael Hayden, warns that a potential DC casino on federal land would jeopardize the security of US government secrets and data. Speaking before the US House Oversight and Reform Committee, they emphasized the threat that would pose to American interests.

As current and former US intelligence community members, the ex-spies attest that having a casino at a federal complex with high-risk activities, proximity to sensitive locations, and 24/7 connectivity, presents too great of an opportunity for criminals, state sponsors, or others to extract secrets and sensitive data from unsuspecting patrons.

While lawmakers consider building the long-anticipated DC United arena, potential for the sports and entertainment site on federal property would come alongside serious concerns related to security measures.

In opposition, committee leaders urged for re- evaluation, prioritizing secrecy in high-sensitive operations and citing increased vulnerabilities brought forth by private sectors. Furthermore, concerns center on potential physical breach points; information breaches related to security check protocols, passport access, background clearance, credit reports, Social Security numbers; compromised surveillance areas like camera placements.

These cautionary warnings should urge the highest concern from politicians when discussing private construction projects around strategic federal structures like the State Department, other cabinet-level executive department buildings.

Ultimately, both leaders and senators weigh in caution: any action moving forward that increases vulnerability may cost more national and global economic interest in American infrastructure and businesses – ultimately hurting all US nationals’ well-being, stability.
