A 17-year-old high school cheerleader was found stabbed to death in California days before Christmas. Angelina Camillia Gonzales’ family claims her ex-boyfriend is responsible for her murder.
According to police, Gonzales was picked up from a cheerleading banquet by her ex-boyfriend on December 20, and was later found suffering from stab wounds around 10 pm that night. She was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Gonzales’ family was able to track her cell phone to her ex-boyfriend’s house, leading them to discover the crime scene. Her stepfather, Robert Caraballo, said that he had previously warned Gonzales to stay away from her ex-boyfriend, but she had a “really big heart” and always saw the good in him.
A GoFundMe page set up by Gonzales’ mother, Letica Carabello, described her as a “gorgeous” and “heart of gold” young woman who was about to turn 18 on January 7.
An 18-year-old acquaintance of the victim, who is a resident of Azusa, is in custody in connection with Gonzales’ murder. The suspect’s arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, and the district attorney is reviewing the case.
