ESPN Aired President Trump’s Message During College Football National Championship
President Trump could not attend the college football national championship game between Ohio State and Notre Dame, but he recorded a message that aired during halftime. Trump was celebrating his return to the White House and attending inauguration balls, but he still wanted to reach out to his fellow Americans.
In his message, Trump declared that “the golden age of America has begun.” He said that the country has suffered in recent years, but starting now, they will bring America back and make it safer, richer, and prouder than ever before.
Trump emphasized that the nation will be filled with compassion, strength, and exceptionalism, and that they will stop wars and bring the world to peace. He also pledged to put America first and make America great again.
The ESPN logo is seen on an electronic display in Times Square in New York City on Aug. 23, 2017.
Trump’s message was met with criticism on social media, with many questioning why ESPN decided to air it during the game. However, Trump has been seen on ESPN before, having attended the national championship in January 2020.
In his message, Trump also congratulated the players and fans watching the game, urging them to fight hard and fight fair, and letting the better team win. He ended his message by thanking everyone and wishing them a good night.
