Elon Musk to occupy White House office space: report.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is set to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), according to a new report. DOGE aims to eliminate government spending, waste, and streamline efficiency and operations. Musk is expected to occupy office space in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, next to the West Wing, although final plans are pending.

DOGE is a blue-ribbon committee, not part of the federal government, and is expected to suggest executive orders for the Trump administration and work alongside the Office of Management and Budget to execute reforms. The goal is to cut $2 trillion from the federal budget through efforts to slash spending, government programs, and the federal workforce.

However, Musk has cast doubt on the likelihood of reaching the $2 trillion goal, suggesting a more likely outcome would be cutting $1 trillion. DOGE is also working to expand its team, currently at around 50 people, to around 100 staffers by the inauguration. The team is currently working from SpaceX’s offices in Washington, D.C.

As the head of DOGE, Musk will need to determine whether to take on the role as a special government employee, which would require financial disclosure forms, or forgo special government employee status, which could come with restrictions on public meetings and document sharing. The dinner hosted by Outside the Box Ventures will bring together tech industry leaders and incoming Trump administration officials to discuss global innovation in artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship.
