Jalen Hurts has the Philadelphia Eagles back in prime contention for the Super Bowl despite criticism about some of his passing numbers slipping year over year. In Sunday’s win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Hurts had 290 passing yards and two touchdown passes.
Domonique Foxworth, a former NFL defensive back and current ESPN analyst, suggested that the lack of backlash from Hurts’ remarks after the game was due to “pretty privilege”. Foxworth compared Hurts to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, saying that Hurts’ on-field performance was impressive, but that he acted like he had just achieved 400 yards for three weeks in a row.
Despite this, Hurts has led the Eagles to a 12-1 record, the highest winning streak in franchise history. His completion percentage of 69.2% is the highest in his career, and he has only thrown five interceptions this season.
The Eagles are riding a 10-game winning streak with three games left to play, putting them in a strong position to win the NFC East.
