Eagles Invite Survivor of Bourbon Street Attack Back to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX

Former Princeton football player Ryan Quigley, who was seriously injured and lost his best friend and teammate Tiger Bech in a terrorist attack in New Orleans on January 1, will be an honorary guest of the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX. The Eagles invited Quigley and Bech’s sister to attend their divisional round game against the Los Angeles Rams last month, and this week they surprised him with Super Bowl tickets.

Quigley suffered broken bones in his leg, back, and face and underwent surgery and several days in the hospital to recover from the attack. He will return to New Orleans, a city he vowed never to visit again, to attend the Super Bowl. The Eagles’ defensive end Brandon Graham told Quigley, “We want to tell you the real reason we brought you here. It’s okay if you’re not feeling it, but we would love to have you down for the Super Bowl.”

Quigley hopes to use his presence at the Super Bowl to share Bech’s story and continue telling it wherever he goes. He believes that Bech’s character and qualities should be known by everyone, and he plans to introduce him to people he meets moving forward. The Eagles and Chiefs will meet in Super Bowl LIX on February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, which will be streamed on Tubi.
