Dwayne Johnson’s $428M monster movie thrives again on new streaming platform.

Dwayne Johnson’s $428 Million Monster Movie Reaches New Heights as a Streaming Hit

Seven years after its initial release, Dwayne Johnson’s monster movie Ranch has become a success once again, thanks to its new streaming home. This is not the first time one of Johnson’s high-octane action movies has seen a surge in popularity, as he has continued to star in action-packed films throughout his career.

Johnson has had a successful career in the action genre, starring in films such as Red One, a holiday action comedy, and 2022’s Black Adam, a superhero film. His 2010s collaboration with director Brad Peyton, which included the action-adventure film Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012) and the disaster movie San Andreas (2015), resulted in two successful, high-budget films, despite receiving mixed reviews.

Johnson’s most recent collaboration with Brad Peyton, Ranch, was released theatrically in 2018 and has now become a massive streaming success. The film, based on the 1986 video game of the same name, follows Davis Okoye, a former Special Forces soldier and primatologist, as he teams up with a western lowland gorilla named George to stop two mutant animals from destroying Chicago. Despite receiving mixed reviews, Ranch earned $428 million against a $120-140 million budget, making it a financial success.

With its new streaming home, Ranch has become a huge hit, reflecting its original popularity when it was first released. This is not the first time one of Johnson’s films has seen a resurgence in popularity, as his movies often continue to attract audiences long after their initial release.
