A drug counselor at a New York State rehab facility has been arrested and charged with selling crack cocaine to undercover agents. Alvin Lewis, 54, was taken into custody on Tuesday evening after an investigation by the local prosecutor’s Drug Task Force.
According to officials, Lewis sold crack to agents on “multiple occasions” while working overnight hours as a counselor at Arms Acres, an in-patient rehabilitation clinic. The clinic is located in Dutchess County, about 80 miles north of New York City.
Police discovered Lewis’s alleged drug dealing while conducting surveillance on him. He was arrested after a search of his home and vehicles yielded crack cocaine packaged and ready for sale.
Lewis is being held without bail and is expected to face additional charges. An online search of credentialing records maintained by New York’s Office of Addiction Services and Supports did not return any records under Lewis’s name.
