Drew Starkey and Omar Apollo share insights on Luca Guadagnino’s vision and Daniel Craig’s presence on set.

Luca Guadagnino’s Wounds is a film that defies categorization. It’s a movie that blends elements of drama, action, and romance, with a dash of surrealism thrown in for good measure. And yet, despite its genre-bending nature, the film has become one of the most talked-about films of the year.

We recently had the chance to sit down with Wounds stars Drew Starkey and Omar Apollo, who play two of the film’s leads. The two actors met in the midst of a whirlwind promotional tour, and we were grateful for the opportunity to quiz them about their experiences working on the film.

One of the things that struck us about Wounds was its unique visual aesthetic. The film is shot in a bold, bright color palette, with a mix of digital and film footage that adds to its dreamlike quality. Guadagnino, who’s known for his work on films like Call Me By Your Name and Suspiria, is a master of creating visually stunning scenes, and Wounds is no exception.

Drew Starkey, who plays the role of Scott, one of the two leads, credits Guadagnino’s vision for creating the film’s distinctive look. “Luca is a very visual artist,” Starkey said. “He has a way of seeing the world that is completely unique, and he really inspires that in his collaborators. He’s got a great eye, and he’s always pushing us to go further and further.”

Omar Apollo, who plays the role of Carlos, the other lead, agrees. “Luca’s vision is incredible,” he said. “He’s got a very clear idea of what he wants to achieve, and he’s not afraid to take risks to get there. Working with him is like being part of this huge, rolling experiment – it’s exhilarating and intimidating at the same time.”

Another aspect of Wounds that’s been well-received is its soundtrack, which features a mix of original scores and songs from emerging artists. Daniel Craig, who plays a pivotal role in the film, even contributed a song to the soundtrack – a haunting, atmospheric track called “Jam.

“Daniel is a musician, and he’s always been very passionate about music,” Apollo said. “He came to us with this idea, and we were all blown away by it. He’s a great singer, and his song adds a lot to the film. We were all thrilled to have him on board.”

Starkey agrees. “Daniel’s energy is infectious,” he said. “When he’s on set, he brings this sense of excitement and danger that’s hard to replicate. He’s a true artist, and it’s amazing to see him bring his talents to the film.”

As Wounds continues to make its way around the festival circuit, audiences are tuning in to experience this unique, genre-defying film. With its stunning visuals, captivating performances, and unforgettable soundtrack, it’s a must-see for anyone looking for something new and innovative in the world of cinema.
