Dominique Pélicot questioned about multiple rape and murder cases.

[Dominique Pélicot, a convicted rapist, was questioned by an investigating magistrate on Thursday about other rape and murder cases he is suspected of committing in the 1990s. Pélicot is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for the rape and drugging of his ex-wife, Gisèle Pélicot.

The new investigation involves the murder of Sophie Narme, a property agent who was killed in Paris in 1991, and the attempted armed rape of another property agent in the Paris suburb of Villeparisis in 1999. Pélicot’s lawyer, Béatrice Zavarro, said that he denies any involvement in Narme’s murder, but acknowledges meeting the other woman and trying to undress her. However, he denies attempted rape.

Lawyer Florence Rault, who represents Narme’s family and the woman subjected to the rape attempt, said that there are similarities between the two cases that suggest the perpetrator may be the same. The investigation was taken over by a specialized unit for cold cases and serial crimes in September 2022.

Pélicot was previously questioned about the cases in October 2023 and acknowledged having been in contact with the property agent in the 1999 case, but not with Sophie Narme. However, police found traces of his DNA at the scene of their meeting, and he acknowledged having an altercation with the woman.

Pélicot’s case made international headlines when he was found guilty of raping and drugging his ex-wife, Gisèle Pélicot, on multiple occasions over nearly a decade. The evidence included stomach-churning homemade videos of the abuse that Pélicot filmed himself. Gisèle Pélicot became a hero to many for courageously demanding that the men’s trial be held in open court.
