Dolphins release Odell Beckham Jr. after nine games.

The Miami Dolphins released wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on Friday, bringing an end to his short tenure with the team. Beckham had missed the past two days of practice due to personal reasons.

Beckham signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins in May, but struggled to make an impact on the team. He started the season on the physically unable to perform list after undergoing offseason knee surgery. In his nine games with the Dolphins, Beckham caught just nine passes for 55 yards, failing to take on a consistent role in the offense.

The Dolphins had hoped Beckham would become the team’s third receiving option behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, but he was ultimately pushed aside by rookie receiver Malik Washington and the increasing use of tight end Jonnu Smith.

Beckham’s latest stint with the Dolphins marks the fifth team he has played for in his NFL career. He previously suited up for the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, and Los Angeles Rams. During his stint with the Rams, Beckham won a Super Bowl title in the 2021-22 season.

After catching 35 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns with the Ravens last season, Beckham was cut by the team in March.
