The Miami Dolphins Missed Postseason for First Time Since 2008, Frustrating Season Ending
The Dolphins finished the 2024 season with an 8-9 record, ending their playoff chances and extending their drought without a playoff victory to 24 years. Despite showcasing star power on offense, led by players such as Hill, Achane, Tua Tagovailoa, and Jaylen Waddle, the team was unable to win games when it mattered most.
The season was marked by an extended injury absence for Tagovailoa, which contributed to a slow start. Additionally, it took most of the season for the offense to come together, which Achane believed was frustrating. “We knew as a team that we dug ourselves in this hole…It sucks that the season ended when we started getting it together,” he said. “It would have been better if we figured it out earlier.”
Despite their struggles, there is still potential for the current group to improve. Hill’s down year saw him fall short of 1,000 yards receiving, and Waddle saw a decline in receiving production. Achane’s sophomore year was marked by his growth in the pass game, contributing 592 receiving yards and finishing 12th in scrimmage yards. However, he identified areas for personal improvement, acknowledging that he left some yards on the field and believes he could hit milestones like breaking the 1,000-yard rushing mark in his third season.
