DNC taps former Harris aides to lead social media response to Trump.

The Democratic National Committee has hired the social media team that managed the @KamalaHQ account during Vice President Kamala Harris’ failed presidential campaign. The team will be responsible for building a new account, @FactPostNews, to counter “misinformation” from the Trump administration in real-time. The account will be active on Twitter, Mastodon, and Bluesky, and is expected to expand to Facebook and TikTok in the future.

According to a memo, the team’s first mission will be to “harass” the confirmation process for Trump’s cabinet nominees, focusing on their personal wealth and calling them “unfit billionaire picks.” This move comes as the Democratic Party is re-evaluating its election strategies after a disappointing showing in November.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has acknowledged that the 2024 election was a loss and that Democrats need to reflect on what went wrong. He attributed the loss to a combination of factors, including “severe headwinds” and some mistakes by the party. Schumer also emphasized the importance of connecting with working families and showing them that the party cares about their concerns.

A new initiative, @FactPostNews, will aim to counter misinformation from the Trump administration and provide the public with the facts about how the administration is working to “screw over the American people.” The social media team, led by Shelby Cole, hopes to build trust with voters by offering accurate, fact-based information.
