Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered a setback in his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon rupture, general manager Andrew Berry announced on Monday. The setback was discovered during player exit meetings on Sunday, following the team’s final regular-season game against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday.
Watson has been out of action since October 20, when he suffered the injury against the Cincinnati Bengals. The quarterback has been met with frustration from fans due to his lack of on-field performance, leading to cheers when the injury was announced.
Watson was acquired by the Browns in a blockbuster trade with the Houston Texans in 2022, signing a five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract. However, he has only appeared in 17 games since joining the team, struggling with injuries and inconsistency.
