A longtime Oklahoma state senator, Regina Goodwin, was involved in a heated argument with a sheriff’s deputy after a traffic stop in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Body camera footage obtained by Fox News Digital shows the tense exchange between Goodwin and Deputy Freddie Alaniz, who pulled her over for allegedly failing to stop at two stop signs.
The footage shows Goodwin repeatedly arguing with Alaniz, claiming that he was “escalating” the situation. Alaniz, however, maintained that Goodwin was refusing to provide her driver’s license, which he had asked for multiple times. The situation escalated to the point where Alaniz placed Goodwin in handcuffs and detained her in his patrol vehicle.
Goodwin’s attorney, Mike Manning, witnessed the scene and spoke with Alaniz, suggesting that he write her a citation instead of taking her to jail. However, Alaniz refused, citing Goodwin’s “blatant” disregard for traffic laws and her “very verbal” demeanor.
The incident occurred on January 11 and Goodwin was eventually released at the scene with a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign. She faces a February 25 court appearance unless she pays the ticket beforehand.
Goodwin represents Oklahoma’s 11th District and was elected to the state Senate in 2024. She previously served in the state’s House of Representatives from 2014-2024. Fox News Digital has reached out to Goodwin’s office for comment.
