Alison Joyner, an Atlanta resident, reported the incident to the airline and the Atlanta Police Department, who are investigating the theft. Joyner had placed an Apple AirTag in her Chanel bag before flying, which tracked the location of the bag to a location 30 miles south of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The stolen purses included a blue Chanel clutch bag, which Joyner had owned for over 10 years, and a Louis Vuitton clutch worth $2,200. Joyner, a Platinum SkyMiles Medallion member, said she was in disbelief considering she had traveled with Delta multiple times in the past.

Delta Airlines has zero tolerance for baggage pilferage and is investigating the incident. The airline has reached out to Joyner to make it right.

The incident serves as a reminder to take precautions while traveling, such as placing valuable items in a carry-on or using tracking devices like AirTags.
