Deebo Samuel Fumes Over Social Media Post Censored by X’s Community Notes

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel recently took to social media to vent about his lack of production, claiming he’s not struggling on the field but rather not getting the ball. The post was met with a community note that pointed out Samuel’s leading drop rate, and the original post was later deleted. Samuel is currently experiencing his least productive stretch in his six-year NFL career, averaging just 2.9 yards per carry and on pace for his worst season in terms of catches and receiving yards per game.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke about the situation, understanding Samuel’s frustration and wanting to get the ball to him more often. Quarterback Brock Purdy, who was seemingly the target of Samuel’s post, also expressed support for his teammate, stating that Samuel is not struggling and is simply not getting the ball in certain situations.

Despite the media frenzy surrounding the post, the incident is being downplayed, with Shanahan saying it’s “water under the bridge” and Purdy emphasizing his close relationship with Samuel. Samuel himself acknowledged feeling frustrated but refused to elaborate further on the issue. The 49ers are set to face the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night, with hopes that Samuel can bounce back from his struggles and help the team move forward.
