Dave Franco and Alison Brie Explain Seven-Year Wait for Horror Film Together

Dave Franco and Alison Brie, partners since 2011 and married since 2017, have reunited on screen for the first time in seven years in the horror film Together. The movie premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and boasts a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score. In an interview at the festival, Franco and Brie discussed the extended gap between their collaborations.

According to Franco, they are actively seeking out projects to work on together every few years, but are selective in their choices. “A lot of people do come to us to play couples in certain scripts,” he said, “but we’re pretty selective, because we don’t want to over expose ourselves as a couple and make everyone sick of seeing us.” Brie added, “And usually, Dave has to write it. So that takes a long time.”

Franco and Brie’s decision to prioritize a balance in their work-life relationship is reflected in their approach to collaboration. They believe that by waiting for projects that align with their chemistry, they can maintain a genuine dynamic on screen. Together marks a careful choice that harmonizes their chemistry with the script, and with its glowing reception at Sundance, their chemistry has become both a personal and professional asset.

Together is set to be released on January 26, 2025, and runs for 102 minutes. The film was written and directed by Michael Shanks.
