Danish lawmaker tells Trump to “f— off” over Greenland bid.

Denmark’s MEP Slams Trump’s Bid for Greenland Sale, Uses F-Word in Rebuke

At an EU session in Strasbourg, France, Danish Member of European Parliament Anders Vistisen, a member of the right-wing Danish People’s Party, harshly criticized US President Donald Trump’s efforts to buy or cede Greenland from Denmark. Vistisen said, “Mr. Trump, f— off,” appearing to reference Trump’s occasional use of salty language.

Vistisen, speaking at the European Parliament, reiterated that Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years and is not for sale. He and the European Parliament’s Vice President Nicolae Ștefănuță, who represents Romania, reprimanded Vistisen for using profanity in the session.

The controversy surrounding Trump’s bid to purchase Greenland has been ongoing, with both Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen rejecting the proposal. Trump Jr. and a small delegation had visited the Greenlandic capital, Nuuk, prior to the bid.

Greenland has a relative autonomy in domestic affairs, relying on Denmark for foreign policy and support, and the US has a US Space Force presence on the island, which was purchased by the US over a century ago. The purchase of the US Virgin Islands in 1916 was ratified by King Christian X of Denmark and the US Senate, but the residents of the island chain were later granted full US citizenship.
