Dame Dash Recalls Moment He Was ‘Done’ With JAY-Z
In a recent interview, Dame Dash, the co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, shared a moment where he felt like he was “done” with his business partner JAY-Z. According to Dash, the incident occurred during a meeting at their Manhattan office, where the two had a heated argument about the direction of their record label.
Dash, who had been working with JAY-Z since the early 1990s, claimed that the argument centered around his desire to release a new album by The Roc-A-Fella signees, Beanie Sigel and Cam’ron, while JAY-Z was pushing for them to focus on his own music.
“I was done with JAY-Z after that,” Dash said, recounting the incident. “I was like, ‘This is it. This is the end.’ And JAY-Z was like, ‘You’re done.’ And I’m like, ‘You’re done.'”
The tension between Dash and JAY-Z ultimately led to Dash’s departure from Roc-A-Fella Records in 2004.
