Cowboys to interview OC Brian Schottenheimer for head coaching role.

The Son of a Legendary Coach Takes Aim at a New Chapter: Brian Schottenheimer in the Running for Cowboys Head Coach Position

Brian Schottenheimer, the son of Marty Schottenheimer, is no stranger to the NFL coaching scene. With over two decades of experience, he has worked as a quarterback coach or offensive coordinator for seven different teams, including stints with the New York Jets, St. Louis Rams, and Seattle Seahawks.

Schottenheimer’s extensive experience has provided him with a wealth of knowledge and expertise, particularly in the realm of quarterback development and offense strategy. His first NFL gig came as a quarterback coach under his father’s guidance in Washington in 2001, and he went on to hold the same position for six more seasons. He eventually took on the role of offensive coordinator for three seasons with the Rams and later led the Seahawks offense for three seasons from 2018 to 2020.

Notably, Schottenheimer has never held a head coaching position or served as an interim coach, but his impressive portfolio could make him a strong candidate for the Dallas Cowboys head coaching position. If Jerry Jones were to select Schottenheimer, it would bring continuity to the team’s offense, particularly for quarterback Dak Prescott, following the departure of Mike McCarthy.

Schottenheimer is among four candidates being considered for the Cowboys head coaching position, joining Seattle assistant head coach Leslie Frazier, Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, and former Jets head coach Robert Saleh.
