CeeDee Lamb, the Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver, has been shut down for the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury. The team announced the move on Thursday, stating that Lamb will undergo a process of treatment and rehabilitation for his injured shoulder, and is not expected to require surgery. The 25-year-old was diagnosed with an AC joint strain in Week 9 and had been playing through the pain, but has now been officially ruled out for the final two games of the season.
According to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, the decision was made to ensure Lamb doesn’t further injure himself and can make a full recovery for the 2025 season. It is unclear what role Lamb played in the decision to shut him down, as Jones said it would be “up to the player” on the decision.
Lamb, who signed a contract extension in the offseason, has had an impressive season with 101 receptions for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games. However, the Cowboys were eliminated from playoff contention despite picking up a win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week.
With no playoffs to play for, the Cowboys aim to use the remaining two games to give players like Lamb and others a chance to rest and recover. Lamb will now begin his rehab to get ready for the 2025 season.
