He Lasted Two and a Half Seasons as Bears Coach Before Being Fired
Matt Eberflus lasted only two and a half seasons as the head coach of the Chicago Bears before being fired after a disastrous Thanksgiving Day loss to the Lions. Despite showing flashes of potential, particularly on defense, his tenure was ultimately marked by disorganization and poor results. Eberflus is now heading to the Dallas Cowboys to take over for Mike Zimmer, who left the team after being passed over for the head coaching job.
Eberflus will inherit a talented roster led by All-Pro rusher Micah Parsons, as well as ascending talents like Trevon Diggs, DaRon Bland, and DeMarvion Overshown. The 2024 season was a nightmare for the Cowboys, who lost key players on both sides of the ball and finished near the bottom of the league in total yards allowed and points allowed per game. However, the team is hopeful that an offseason to get healthy and implement Eberflus’ system will lead to a bounce-back campaign in 2025. Eberflus is looking to redeem himself after his 2024 season ended in his dismissal from the Bears.
