Morgan Wallen, the country music singer, has pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and simple assault after a chair-throwing incident at a Nashville bar in July. Wallen, 27, was arrested on July 7 after a disturbance at Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock ‘n’ Roll Steakhouse.
According to police reports, Wallen threw a chair at a woman after she told him she didn’t want to talk to him. The woman was not injured in the incident. Wallen was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and simple assault.
As part of his plea deal, Wallen will serve 30 days of probation and pay a $30 fine. He will also be required to complete a class on anger management.
Wallen’s attorney, Justin S. Ogilvie, said in a statement that Wallen is “glad to have this matter behind him” and is “committed to being a positive influence on his fans and the music industry.”
The incident is the latest in a series of controversies surrounding Wallen, who has faced criticism for using a racial slur in a video and for his behavior at a bar in January. Wallen has apologized for his actions and has said he is seeking help and guidance to improve his behavior.
