Conor McGregor Found Liable of Assault in Ireland Civil Court Stemming from Sexual Encounter
A civil jury in Ireland has ruled that Conor McGregor assaulted a woman, Nikita Hand, in a penthouse after a night of partying in 2018 during a sexual encounter. The former UFC champion denied the claims, saying that Hand’s accusations are false.
According to the ruling, McGregor was ordered to pay over $250,000 in damages. Meanwhile, triathlete James Lawrence was found innocent of the same allegations made by Hand, who claimed that he had also assaulted her during the same night.
After the ruling, McGregor posted on X, saying that he would appeal the decision and ranting about Hand’s “lies.” He also wrote that Hand had “falsely accused a man of rape and lost.”
Hand claimed that McGregor had bruised her during sex to a point where a paramedic testified that he had not seen someone with that intensity of bruising. She also alleged that McGregor had put her in a chokehold several times and later told her, “Now you know how I felt in the octagon where I tapped out three times.”
McGregor, on the other hand, testified that the two had had sex that was athletic and vigorous but not rough. He said that Hand never said “no” or stopped, and that everything she said was a lie.
McGregor has been involved in controversy before, having previously been accused of sexually assaulting someone in a bathroom at an NBA Finals game in 2022 but avoiding charges.
