Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid continues to climb the ranks in Oilers history after passing Jarri Kurri for second all-time in points with 1,044 points in their 5-3 win over the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday. McDavid had two goals and an assist in the game, tying the game at 2-2 in the first period and scoring his second goal to seal the win in the third period, reaching the point that moved him into second all-time in Oilers franchise history.
McDavid still trails Wayne Gretzky, who holds the all-time points record with 1,669 points in nine seasons with the team. To surpass Gretzky, McDavid will likely need to spend the next five or six years with the team and continue producing at his current level.
McDavid’s two goals and an assist were a key factor in the Oilers’ come-from-behind win, which saw them overcome a 2-0 deficit in the first period. The Oilers have now won seven of their last eight games, and McDavid’s play has been a driving force behind their success. He has 19 goals and 43 assists in 41 games this season, and the Oilers are 28-13-3, second in the Pacific division and in a playoff spot.
The team will face a tough test next, with a game against the Colorado Avalanche on the road on Thursday at 9:30 p.m. ET.
