Attack of the Clones is My Favorite Star Wars Movie
While there are many Star Wars movies to choose from, my heart has settled on one of the franchise’s lowest-rated and most underrated films, and I have no shame about enjoying it thoroughly to this day. As a child of the 90s, I was a part of the generation who grew up with the prequel trilogy, and Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones is one of the first movies I ever saw in the theater. This film made a resounding impact on me, even among the mixed reception it received from fans and critics.
The reason for my fondness lies in the nostalgia surrounding Attack of the Clones. It arrived at a time when I was just beginning to grasp the world around me, and everything was Clones-related – from video games to action figures, I couldn’t escape it. This has given me a personal attachment to the film that I still cherish to this day.
One of the most memorable sequences for me is the Kamino and Geonosis scenes, which I thoroughly enjoyed as a child. When I rewatch the movie, I still feel a sense of nostalgia wash over me, and it’s like revisiting my childhood. The story of Anakin and Padmé’s falling in love, amidst the chaos of the galaxy, is particularly charming.
Some fans may be quick to point out the film’s flaws, but for me, Attack of the Clones is charming in a way that other Star Wars films are not. Can a 19-year-old young man not be poetic about the woman he loves? It’s a romantic sentimentality that I find endearing.
Even the most cringe-worthy moments in other Star Wars films, such as Han and Leia’s twin sibling kissing scene, can’t compare to the innocence and charm of Anakin’s declarations of love. In all seriousness, Attack of the Clones continues to be my favorite Star Wars movie, and I have no intention of changing that anytime soon.
