UFC Fight Night: Colby Covington Loses to Joaquin Buckley, Blames Short Notice and Campaigning for Trump

Colby Covington’s UFC Fight Night bout against Joaquin Buckley did not go as planned. Covington, who took the fight on short notice, suffered a brutal cut above his red eye and was unable to get a full camp in leading up to the bout. The doctor stopped the fight, resulting in a TKO victory for Buckley.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Covington blamed his loss on the short notice and his efforts to campaign for President-elect Donald Trump. “I was campaigning for Trump, you know, getting him ready,” Covington said. “I wasn’t even in the training room. I came off the couch on two-and-a-half weeks notice. It’s a tough ending to go like that.”

Covington also expressed his excitement for Trump’s upcoming presidency, saying that the country is “soon to see the greatest four years in history.” He praised Trump’s potential policies, including world peace, closed borders, and low inflation.

Covington has been a vocal supporter of Trump and has previously referred to him as his “biggest role model.” Trump has also been a fan of the UFC, attending several events in recent months leading up to the election.

The loss marks Covington’s first defeat in the welterweight division, and he plans to use the defeat as fuel for his next training camp. Despite the setback, Covington remains optimistic about his future in the UFC.
