Cleveland Browns to Start Dorian Thompson-Robinson at Quarterback against Bengals
The Cleveland Browns have decided to start Dorian Thompson-Robinson at quarterback for the upcoming game against the Cincinnati Bengals, a person familiar with the decision told the Associated Press. The move comes after quarterback Jameis Winston was benched due to his poor performance, throwing three interceptions, including his eighth in three games, in the Browns’ 21-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
Winston had taken over the starting job in October following a season-ending injury to Deshaun Watson, but he went 2-5 and threw 12 interceptions throughout his time as the starter. Thompson-Robinson, a fifth-round pick from UCLA, finished the game after Winston’s third interception and will now start the final three games of the season.
Thompson-Robinson started three games as a rookie last season and has a 1-2 record. In his two years in the league, he has completed 75 of 146 passes (51.4%) for 540 yards and a touchdown, with seven interceptions. He is expected to start the final three games, which will give the organization a better evaluation of his development and potential to be in the mix to be the team’s starter in 2025.
