The Life of Chuck: Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King Adaptation Gets Release Date and Star-Studded Cast
Mike Flanagan, the mastermind behind The Fall of the House of Usher, The Haunting of Hill House, and Midnight Mass, is set to direct the upcoming Stephen King adaptation, The Life of Chuck, based on the novella from King’s 2020 collection If It Bleeds. The film tells the life story of Charles “Chuck” Krantz, a man dying from a brain tumor, in reverse chronological order, showcasing his life in a unique and experimental way.
The cast is led by Tom Hiddleston, who will play the titular character, and also features Mark Hamill, Karen Gillan, Nick Offerman, Chiwetel Ejiofer, and many more. The film is set to be released on May 30, 2025, and will be distributed by NEON, behind hits like Longlegs and Cuckoo.
The story is told in reverse, starting with Chuck’s death and then moving back in time to showcase moments in his life, including his childhood in a supposedly haunted house. Throughout the story, Chuck’s perception of reality is affected by his brain tumor, which impacts the way the story is told.
Mike Flanagan is known for his amazing work with character development, and this adaptation has the potential to be one of the strongest Stephen King adaptations yet. With its star-studded cast and unique storytelling, The Life of Chuck is a must-see for horror fans and King enthusiasts alike.
