DETROIT PASTOR SAYS IT’S ‘IMPOSSIBLE’ FOR CHRISTIANS TO BE POLITICALLY NEUTRAL

A Detroit pastor has declared that it is “impossible” for pastors and Christians to be politically neutral. Lorenzo Sewell, pastor of 180 Church in Detroit, Michigan, made the statement in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Sewell, a Republican, has been critical of identity politics and believes that spirituality and politics are intertwined. “It is impossible to be a spiritual person and not be political,” he said.

The pastor’s comments come as a Los Angeles pastor, Rev. Jonathan Hall, struggles to unite his church following the presidential election. Hall has faced criticism from some congregants who feel that his efforts to bring together Republicans and Democrats are too one-sided and anti-Republican.

In contrast, Sewell believes that bipartisanship is essential for making progress. “We need to understand that you cannot have progress without being bipartisan,” he said. “We understand that you have to work with the Democrats and you have to work with Republicans now in order to make real progress happen.”

Sewell also acknowledged that he has Democrats in his own church, but emphasized that the Democratic platform is “demonic.” He also noted that not every Republican is a “revivalist,” but added that his church does not worship political parties or physical symbols, only the Lamb of God.
