China’s BYD, Leapmotor, and Xiaomi deliver strong sales, exceeding annual targets.

Chinese Automakers BYD, Leapmotor, Xiaomi, and Others Deliver Cars at Record Pace

Chinese automakers BYD, Leapmotor, and Xiaomi have surpassed their annual delivery targets a month ahead of schedule, demonstrating their rapid growth and strong market demand. BYD, a leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, delivered 504,003 passenger vehicles in November, exceeding its initial full-year target of 3.6 million deliveries. Leapmotor, backed by Stellantis, saw 40,169 deliveries in November, up 5.22% from the previous month and 117% year on year. Xiaomi, which launched its first car, the SU7, in March, achieved the feat of surpassing its annual target of 100,000 deliveries midway through November.

Other Chinese automakers also reported record deliveries in November. Zeekr, backed by Geely, delivered 27,011 cars, beating the previous month’s record by 7.83%. Xpeng, which launched its mass-market car, Mona M03, in late August, achieved an all-time best with 30,895 deliveries in November. Nio, a premium electric vehicle brand, delivered 20,575 cars, up 28.9% year on year.

However, Li Auto, which offers cars with a fuel tank to extend the battery’s driving range, saw a decline in deliveries in November, down 5.25% from October’s deliveries. Huawei-backed Aito did not disclose its November deliveries but announced that it had delivered over 180,000 units of the M7. Amid the intensifying price war in China, Tesla cut prices by 10,000 yuan for its Model Y through December 31.
