Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes Injury Update: Week-to-Week with Ankle Injury
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is listed as week-to-week after suffering an ankle injury during Sunday’s 21-7 win over the Cleveland Browns. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Mahomes will undergo further testing and examination on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.
Mahomes was injured at the 8-minute mark of the fourth quarter when he was hit high and low by multiple Browns defenders while attempting to throw an incomplete pass. Despite X-rays coming back negative, Mahomes’ ankle is reportedly sore and he will begin rehabilitation as soon as possible.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed the injury, stating that Mahomes’ right ankle is not broken, but it is sore. Mahomes himself said he was trying to make a play happen when he got hit and rolled up on, which caused the injury. The quarterback is expected to start rehabbing and will see how he progresses in the coming days.
The status of Mahomes for next week’s game is still uncertain, but the team will provide further updates on his condition in the coming days.
