The Kansas City Chiefs Secure Division Title and Playoff Berth
The Kansas City Chiefs have clinched their 10th straight AFC West title and secured a playoff spot after defeating their division rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos. With their 12-1 record, they have also moved closer to securing the AFC’s top seed and the first-round bye that comes with it.
The Chiefs have a knack for close games, having won all but two of their victories this season in nail-biting fashion. They have a remarkable 10-0 record in one-possession games, a streak that will serve them well in the playoffs.
“We keep the ratings, baby. Keep the ratings,” said defensive lineman Chris Jones. “Getting prepared for later on in the playoffs when every game is going to be tight. Every game is going to be similar atmosphere to this. Very tight, very close. Maybe come down to a field goal to win the game and we know how to close.”
With their division title, the Chiefs are well on their way to making history, vying for an unprecedented three-peat. They have won three straight games, nine consecutive AFC West titles, and are at the top of their conference. They have four games remaining before officially starting their defense of their Super Bowl crowns.
“We won the division, it’s the first step,” said quarterback Patrick Mahomes after the game. “We’ve got a lot more goals that we want to go for.”
