Justin Herbert’s Left Leg Concerns Won’t Sideline Him Sunday
Justin Herbert has been dealing with a pair of left leg injuries, a thigh bruise and an ankle sprain, but he has been cleared to start in Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback was limited in practice on Thursday, but was a full participant on Friday, indicating that he has fully recovered from his injuries.
Herbert sustained the thigh bruise and ankle sprain during the Chargers’ Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but he is expected to lead the team onto the field on Sunday. With the Chargers looking to close in on a playoff spot, Herbert’s health is paramount.
Despite playing through injury earlier in the season, Herbert’s high ankle sprain earlier in the year was a noticeable detriment. The extent to which his current left leg injuries will slow him will be worth monitoring.
In 13 starts this season, Herbert has completed 63.9% of his passes for 2,764 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just one interception. He has also rushed for 224 yards and two scores. The Chargers will need him to continue his sensational play to take down the Buccaneers on Sunday. Los Angeles and Tampa Bay are set to face off at 4:25 p.m. ET.
