Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh disputes criticism of quarterback Justin Herbert as “completely unfair”.

Harbaugh and General Manager Joe Hortiz Emphasize Support for Justin Herbert Despite Tough Playoff Game

As the Los Angeles Chargers look to build on their success in 2024, Quentin Harbaugh, the team’s head coach, and general manager Joe Hortiz are staunchly backing their star quarterback, Justin Herbert.

Despite a tough playoff game, Harbaugh has not wavered in his praise for Herbert, calling him a “beast” and affirming his confidence in the quarterback’s abilities. As a former NFL player himself, Harbaugh understands the challenges of playing the position and is not swayed by a single bad game.

General manager Joe Hortiz shares similar sentiments, pointing out that other successful quarterbacks like Peyton Manning and Lamar Jackson have also had slow starts to their playoff careers. He believes that Herbert is a “phenomenal” competitor, leader, and playmaker, and is committed to supporting him.

The Chargers will need to retain key players, including edge rusher Khalil Mack, to build on their success in 2025. Both Harbaugh and Hortiz want Mack back next season and will make every effort to keep him.

To take the next step, the team will need to prove that their playoff performance was an anomaly.
