Can’t Get Him the Ball Enough

Burrow then found a wide open and streaking Chase, whose 40-yard TD capped a stellar night for him and Cincinnati’s offense, capping a much-needed win. Chase lamented the team’s inability to finish the season, which has seen them go 2-4 in games where they score 30 or more points.

Mathematically, the Bengals may still be alive for the playoffs, but it’s almost certain their season will end short of the postseason. However, Chase’s run towards a triple crown continued uninterrupted.

“He’s a special player,” said Burrow, praising his teammate and recommending him for a new, lucrative contract. “He continues to make plays after the catch, before the catch. Any way that you get him the ball, he makes plays. He deserves all he’s gonna get and more.”

Not long after Chase’s touchdown, he smashed his quarterback with a The Simpsons-themed donut right in the face, a fitting end to a night in which he dominated the Cowboys defense. Burrow couldn’t help but smile and hug his friend.

It was a fitting end, as Chase had repeatedly found success through the air and on the ground, his connection with Burrow leading the Bengals to a much-needed win. “I was told to do that, I didn’t want to do that,” Chase said of the donut treatment. “And then he got me back. I think he got the best of me.”

Win or lose, few defenses have been able to say that about Chase during his sensational season.
