The Saga of Donald Trump’s Threats to Take Over Canada Escalates

The threats of Donald Trump to take over Canada have escalated, with the president-elect seeming to get more and more serious about the idea. Trump’s idea of Canada becoming the 51st U.S. state is largely seen as a major troll, but he appears to be getting more and more serious about it.

In response to Trump’s threats, Ontario Premier Doug Ford suggested that Canada should actually absorb at least two U.S. states. Ford told reporters that he would make Trump a counteroffer, saying, “How about if we buy Alaska and throw in Minnesota and Minneapolis at the same time?” He later clarified that he was joking.

Canadian MP Charlie Angus declined the proposal, saying that Canada has a system of democracy where the leader is accountable to Parliament and can be replaced. He also noted that convicted sexual abusers do not get to lead their nation.

Trump has continued to push his proposal, saying that Canada is subsidized by the U.S. and that they do not have a military. He also suggested that Wayne Gretzky, a former Canadian professional ice hockey player, should run for prime minister.

Ford has rejected Trump’s proposal, saying that Canada is not to blame for any U.S. economic woes. He pointed the finger at China for sending in “cheap parts” and suggested that a bilateral deal with the U.S. would address the issue.

Trudeau announced his resignation as Canadian Prime Minister on Monday, citing the constant humiliation by Trump. Trump has continued to push his proposal, saying that many people in Canada love the idea of being the 51st state.

Ford has said that he will not allow Canada to become a state, saying that it is not realistic. He also believes that Trump has a sense of humor and has joked about Canada becoming a state in the past.

The saga has sparked a heated debate in Canada, with some calling for Trudeau’s resignation and others criticizing Trump’s proposal. The Canadian general elections are coming up in the fall, and polls indicate that conservatives will win back power with Pierre Poilievre as their leader. Trump has said that it would be “very good” if Poilievre took over as Canadian PM.
