Canada is Not for Sale: Entrepreneur Secures Success with Anti-Trump Merchandise

Donald Trump’s vocal threats against Canada have given a Florida-based entrepreneur a unique business opportunity. Liam Mooney, founder of an Ottawa-based design firm, has created a hat with the bold message “Canada is Not for Sale” as a response to Trump’s tariff threats and suggestions that Canada become the 51st U.S. state. The hats have gained popularity since Ontario Premier Doug Ford was spotted wearing one during a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other premiers in Ottawa.
Mooney designed the hats to cut through the political rhetoric with a message of nationalism and unity, aiming to bring people together from all aspects of society, regardless of political affiliation. Since then, tens of thousands of the hats have been ordered online.
The tariffs would not only harm Canada’s economy but also increase the price of oil and other goods in the United States. The threat comes at a time of political turmoil in Canada, with Liberal leader Trudeau set to resign in March and the opposition Conservatives leading in the polls ahead of a federal election later this year.
Mooney and his business partner designed the hats after seeing one of Ford’s recent interviews on Fox News, where the host suggested it would be a privilege for Canada to merge with the U.S. The hat quickly gained popularity, with Trump demanding respect from Canada, saying that he would not tolerate any insults.
