California’s Progressive Experiment Fails After Decade of Implementation

California Voters Overwhelmingly Approve Proposition 36, Cracking Down on Crime and Homelessness

California voters have overwhelmingly approved Proposition 36, a measure aimed at reducing crime and homelessness in the state. The proposition, which took effect on December 18, increases penalties for certain crimes, including drug possession and theft, and allows for felony charges to be filed against those who commit these offenses.

The measure, which was backed by 70% of voters, is seen as a response to the state’s growing crime and homelessness crisis. Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, who was backed by billionaire George Soros, was rejected in his bid for re-election, and voters instead chose to support a more conservative approach to law enforcement.

The passage of Proposition 36 is seen as a victory for those who believe that the state’s criminal justice system has been too lenient and has contributed to the state’s crime and homelessness problems. Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, who supported the measure, said that it will help to “make theft a felony again” and will give law enforcement the tools they need to keep communities safe.

The measure is also seen as a response to the state’s growing homelessness crisis. California has seen a significant increase in homelessness in recent years, and many voters believe that the state’s lack of effective solutions to the problem has contributed to the crisis.

While some critics of the measure argue that it will lead to increased incarceration rates and will disproportionately affect certain communities, supporters of the measure believe that it will help to reduce crime and improve public safety.

The passage of Proposition 36 is seen as a significant victory for those who believe that the state’s criminal justice system needs to be reformed and that the state’s approach to crime and homelessness needs to be more effective.
