A Routine Traffic Stop Turns Unusual with the Discovery of a Spider Monkey in a 2022 Rolls-Royce
A routine traffic stop in Madera County, California took an unusual turn on Monday when a California Highway Patrol official stopped a 2022 Rolls-Royce Ghost for excessive speeding on Highway 99. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Ali Mused Adel Mohamed, was also found to be under the influence and placed under arrest for DUI and in possession of cannabis for sale.
However, the most surprising aspect of the incident was the discovery of a Spider Monkey in the vehicle. The monkey, believed to be just one month old, was safely taken into custody by animal control and later transferred to the Oakland Zoo to receive appropriate care.
California law prohibits the ownership of primates as pets, and officials are investigating how the monkey came to be in the car with Mohamed. The driver has been booked at the Madera County Jail and is facing several charges, including possession of an exotic animal. The incident has been dubbed “a traffic stop with a twist” by the California Highway Patrol.
