California Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu accused former Trump press secretary of being a “fake Christian” in a heated debate.

A First-Term Democrat Attacks White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt

Congressman Dave Min, a freshman House Democrat from California, has launched a scathing attack on White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, calling her a “Fake Christian” and comparing her to the worship of the Golden Calf.

The attack comes after Leavitt issued a statement seeking to clarify a White House memo rescinding an earlier policy statement on President Donald Trump’s federal funding order. In her statement, Leavitt clarified that the rescinded memo did not affect the President’s executive orders targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and other progressive spending priorities, stating that “the President’s EOs on federal funding remain in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented.”

However, Min takes issue with Leavitt’s comments, which he claims are hypocritical and inconsistent with her Christian beliefs. In a statement, Min wrote, “Karoline Leavitt is a Fake Christian, like so many in this Golden Calf administration.”

Min’s criticism of Leavitt’s comments was further amplified by his criticism of her remarks during a White House press briefing, in which she referred to the Omnibus Spending and Budget Reconciliation Act (DOGE) as “preposterous waste of taxpayer dollars” for funding condoms in Gaza. Min characterized Leavitt’s comments as “bald-faced lies” and accused her of using her faith to justify her actions.

The attack on Leavitt is part of a larger culture war being waged by the Democratic Party, with many politicians and pundits attacking the Trump administration’s policies and executive orders. The controversy has sparked widespread debate and division in the country, with some accusing the administration of being insincere in its claims of promoting Christian values, while others see the attacks as a baseless personal assault on those in power.
