Caitlin Clark celebrates Chiefs’ wild win: “The bank is open!”

Caitlin Clark, a star guard for the Indiana Fever, was among the ecstatic Kansas City Chiefs fans who witnessed Matthew Wright’s game-winning field goal that secured the AFC West division for the Chiefs on Sunday night. Clark, a longtime Chiefs fan, shared her excitement on social media, writing “Bank is open …. CHIEFSSSSSSSSSSS” on X.

Clark’s love for the Chiefs dates back to her childhood, when she was surrounded by Chiefs fans in her family. In a previous interview with ESPN’s “Manningcast,” she stated, “I’ve been a Chiefs fan since I was a young girl. My brother was a Chiefs fan, my dad was a Chiefs fan, I had cousins in Kansas City who were Chiefs fans.”

The Chiefs’ win marked their ninth straight year as AFC West champions, a streak they achieved despite facing a challenging season with injuries to their offense. Coach Andy Reid praised his team, saying, “I’m proud of the guys, I mean the coaches (and) when (chairman & CEO) Clark (Hunt) gives us the opportunity to do this, or (president) Mark Donovan and (general manager) Brett Veach. We are all in this together trying to make it happen and it’s not easy, it’s not an easy thing. Every year is a little different on how we’ve gotten there.”

The team’s success this year came from their ability to win tight games, with several victories coming by just a handful of points. Clark’s excitement and pride were well-shared by the Chiefs organization, who celebrated their latest division win.
